The Indian government is planning to introduce 75 Vande Bharat trains by March next year, and they are also exploring the possibility of running sleeper versions of these trains on long-distance routes as an alternative to the Rajdhani Express. These moves are part of an effort to enhance railway services in the country.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared that Vande Bharat services are expected to be extended to Srinagar within the current financial year once the Jammu-Srinagar rail line becomes operational. These semi-high-speed trains are designed to offer a unique travel experience, performing well in varying temperatures and altitudes.
Serving the Northeast and Tripura
The railway minister also emphasized that Vande Bharat trains will soon be introduced in Tripura as the railway line in the northeastern state gets electrified. The development of railway services in the northeastern region and Jammu and Kashmir has received personal attention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reflecting the government's commitment to expanding and improving rail services in these areas.
